A few things happened this month that have helped light a nice raging fire under my ass.
These things have helped shift my intentions into the next gear, and I hope one or two of them might speak to you.
GOT MYSELF COACHED
In my last post, I covered some tips on identifying and working with mentors. I am happy to say that I met with one of my mentors for some one-on-one coaching, and it was so incredibly helpful. I have coached others, but hadn’t spent much money or time getting myself coached.
Man, am I glad I did.
The right questions fueled the right thoughts, which I can happily say has inspired action. I’ve taken more steps towards fulfilling my personal goals in the past month than I had taken in the past YEAR.
I have mentioned her book a few different times, but this is my shameless plug. “You are a Badass” by Jen Sincero is freaking awesome – both funny and inspiring. If you are too overwhelmed by the idea of reading 20 different self-help books to help you fulfill your personal or professional dreams…. don’t worry.
You only have to read one to start.
It’s such a good place to start if you are in a rut, not in rut but want a change, looking to fulfill a goal, wondering what you potential is, needing a new outlook on life or your relationships, … and on and on. The big takeaway:
There is NO time like the present to harness your own power to make this life what you want it to be.
By pure universal goodness, I also got to see Jen speak live this week. She was awesome, and I found the courage to ask the first question (even though I was about to pee my pants from nerves!). I even got to talk to her briefly and have a picture to prove it. I have since signed up for her on-line coaching program that starts in 2015, and I have no idea how I’ll make the time for it… but I know I will.
LEARNED ABOUT BRITTANY MAYNARD
If you don’t know who Brittany is: watch here. If you do know who she is, but don’t know the whole story, watch here. The fact that she (and so many other amazing human beings) have faced terminal illness or worse at such young ages is devastating. It is terrible, completely unfair, and but also incredibly motivating.
These individuals, such as Brittany, have chosen to face illness and tragedy with bravery and gusto, while I sit at home wondering if I’m on the right path or not. SERIOUSLY? I HAVE a future, a life, health, a family, a job, … and more and more.
So many of us are so blessed with a life, a soul, and freedom of choice. We can choose how to use this life, this day, this hour. We can make choices and decisions that work for us, or work against us.
When you really stop and think about all the thing you DO have going for you, how could you not charge forward into the unknown and live the life you’ve always wanted?
Let’s do it together- I’m trying my best to head there, and I would love to have some friends on the way.
